What a great point you highlight! Fostering is so important and a socialized animal has greater chance for long term success with a forever family. Let’s see if we can get more people to foster and adopt in 2010.

My two cats are from the local shelter. Fun times and laughter!

People should remember that most shelters are crowded and volunteers are needed to foster young animals. It’s good for the animal to become socialized and it means a better experience for animal’s forever family. The chances of the family returning the animal goes way down. I fostered a mom and her litter last year and it was a great experience!

Excellent post Desiree! There are so many animals in need of our help – and the number keeps rising as the harsh economy forces families who care about, but are unable to financially care for thier pets increases.

P.S. My rescue cat Pacaya would have posed for some pictures for your blog if you had asked nicely!
