		<description>Desiree, I think this post is great! It needs to be trumpeted all over, imho! 

I&#039;m currently working with a fantastic organization that is blessed with a lot of paid staff positions. They also have a great volunteer program, but there isn&#039;t a need to give volunteers more challenging tasks or roles because the culture doesn&#039;t really support it. They are starting a speaker&#039;s bureau to accommodate the many requests coming in for education on their cause, though and I believe that is a huge step forward.

That&#039;s what people really want - to be a part of a solution. Not just donate time and money and walk away. I think many volunteers give up after a short period of time, not because too much is being asked of them, but because too little is being expected of them.
